The Land of Tom YuM

I was actually writing my to-due-soon-report and really fed up with the intermittent interruption, therefore I decided to take a break from it and update my blog.

I just came back from Bangkok with friends and also love. First time went overseas with him and I can say that he is really a good travel partners apart from the business minded brain freak. The last time I went was 10 years ago and I really do not have much memory except how I look at that time. ( I do not wanna have that memory either @.@) We went for a total 3 days and is expecting a low budget trip.

Before departing to Bangkok. With Le friend and partner..

The first day was supposed to visit the Grand Palace but we ended up got scam by the tuk-tuk guy. Long story short, never take a tuk-tuk anymore. Just decided where you want to go and take a metered-taxi if the place is not accessible by BTS or MRT. Also, never read the map while you are walking or standing, as all these scammer will identify you and start approaching you! We initially thought that we were lucky to met all those friendly people but they all turned out to be their accomplices as well! But still luckily we only got cheated 40 baht. So I'm still okay. Is the time that has been wasted!

We manage to rent a private boat which is 1500 baht per boat (it's cheap if it is shared among few people) and look along the Chao Phraya River. The wind was rather strong that time and at some point I thought the boat might overturn! A bit scary to me..

another boat on the river

there are tons of temple in Bangkok!

Le me in the boat!

One thing I like about Bangkok is the food! Their BBQ are just awesome! Almost every stalls selling BBQ meat is nice. The meat is just juicy and tender (sorry to the vegetarian ). One of their famous street food should be the pork meat balls which contain stuffing inside. I cant tell what is the stuffing inside but one of it is sticky rice and chopped onion.

A cute little yogurt drink I found in 7-11
Their 7-11 is so compact and sell a lot of stuff compare to ours. Their instant food tasted surprisingly nice! T.I actually bought their fried rice and ate it as supper. He was screaming about how nice the fried rice was when I was brushing my teeth.. and is in 3 am in the morning.. You can imagine how good is that?  There are books and magazine in the 7-11, they also sell CD and DVD too!!
random drinks bought on the street while walking and they tasted nice FYI

Clockwise from Top left: Tom Yum Seafood, View from Chao Phraya River, Salted BBQ fish stuffed with lemongrass (this is unbelievably awesome!!!), View from a bridge in Pratunam.

T.I decided we should try out their Swensen Ice cream and to be honest I have never try one in KL either.  And guess what! it is cheap in Bangkok!

Finally a photo of T.I and me! in the middle of the street of Pratunam!

Thai Mcdonald and me in cap (first time in cap)

My second day in Bangkok was spend entirely in the mall, specifically Platinum Mall. It is a wholesale mall for clothing. (now i know where all the online boutique clothes come from!) It has 6 floors and the highest floor is the food court. In Malaysia, food in food court are normally not as good compare to the retail restaurant but this is opposite in Bangkok! The food in the food court is nice! and cheap too. It is cheaper compare to the one sell on the street. The rest of the floors are mainly selling clothes. T.I was dragged by me floor to floor to hunt for clothing. The price range is between 200-450 baht per piece for individual. But if wholesale price will be lots cheaper of course. Happy with my hunt and went back with an extremely tired legs.

Overall the trip is good. Lot of research need to be make if you are going free and easy. However, first time travelling overseas with a partner consider as acceptable. I believe there will be next time and more to come. Will learn from mistakes and improve in the future trips!

Night peeps..
Hope you have a great trip too!
